Dr. Philip Schoenfeld MD - Physician Specializing in Gastroenterology
Based in Michigan, Philip Schoenfeld, MD, is an award-winning gastroenterologist known for his contributions to clinical research and medical education. Dr. Philip Schoenfeld earned his MD from the University of Pennsylvania, and went on to complete an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in gastroenterology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Schoenfeld has balanced clinical practice, research, and teaching. He is the chief of the gastroenterology department at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit.
In 2021, Dr. Schoenfeld joined Evidence-Based GI, a monthly online publication of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), as editor-in-chief. His research interests include colorectal cancer screening, gastrointestinal epidemiology, and improving clinical outcomes in gastroenterology. His work has been supported by numerous grants from institutions such as the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Schoenfeld is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association. With a keen interest in advancing medical education, he recently founded a nonprofit organization called EBMed which promotes gastrointestinal education.
